Malaybalay City - In observance of the World Water Day with the theme “Nature for Water”, the Malaybalay City Water District headed by its General Manager Glenrose T. Ledesma, conducted simultaneous clean up drive of its water sources namely Sawaga River at Brgy. Sumpong, Bag-as and Lumayagan Creeks at Brgy. Kalasungay this city on March 22, 2018.
The said activity was participated by all MCWD employees who were grouped into three (3) teams - the Engineering/Production Division was assigned at the Sawaga River while the Administrative/Finance Division and Commercial Services Division were assigned at the Bag-as and Lumayagan Creeks, respectively.
The MCWD organized a cleanup drive on its water sources to express and demonstrate its great concern to the increasing contamination, solid waste litters and improper sewage and wastewater disposal which continuously threatens the quality of water in the City of Malaybalay.
The MCWD believes that through this collective effort, it will raise awareness on the importance of water and the protection and preservation of watersheds as well as to encourage the public to address the present water sanitation concerns and issues.
The World Water Day is an annual activity celebrated by all water districts nationwide through the directive of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA).
