Malaybalay City – The Bukidnon Association of Water Districts (BAWD) gathered in Valencia City for its 2nd regular meeting on Thursday, June 9, 2016.
The meeting was attended by BAWD officials headed by its President, GM Tomas C. Carumba of Wao Water District, Board of Directors, General Managers and employees of the 10 member water districts in Bukidnon including Wao Water District.
The topics discussed included the amendment of the organization’s Constitution and By – Laws, update on the organization’s membership at Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), El Niño effects and possible preparation for La Niña as well as its commitment of water supply to the community.
Ma. Socorro R. Paluga, BAWD Vice President and GM of Valencia Water District, proposed a project dubbed as “Mt. Kitanglad Tree Growing Festival” in coordination with Protected Area Management Board (PAMB, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Municipal and Barangay Officials involved in said activity.
The Tree Growing Festival aims to improve and develop quality of the natural environment, reduce greenhouse gases and preparation for climate change, protect watershed and promote awareness of the importance of tree growing to the youth of the province of Bukidnon.
According to GM Paluga, this activity will also be participated by all BAWD members, NGO’s, schools and other private organizations that are willing to invest in this long term endeavor.
GM Jun Aroa of Malaybalay City Water District and immediate past president of the association also challenged all member water districts to help neighboring municipalities and barangays without good and safe supply of drinking water.
