Malaybalay City - The Malaybalay City Water District joins the 39th Philippine Association of Water Districts (PAWD) National Convention held at Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City on February 7-9, 2018 with the theme, “Water District Options and Solutions to Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation”.
Over 2000 delegates from the different water districts nationwide attended the said convention including the management and members of the MCWD Board of Directors namely General Manager Glenrose T. Ledesma, Board Chairman Jorge C. Lagumbay, Board Vice-Chair Manny James A. Cudal II, and Board Treasurer Roberto V. Tinsay Jr. together with two (2) other MCWD personnel.
Various activities and technical sessions were conducted during the said convention which were organized simultaneously by different invited resource speakers such as Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and other water districts. The said learning sessions provided information and awareness to local water districts on the different options and solutions to sustainable water supply and sanitation. Local and international suppliers of the water industry also showcased their products and services through exhibits and product presentations.
One of the highlights of the event was the induction of the new PAWD Board of Governors for the year 2018-2019 in which MCWD Board Chairman Jorge C. Lagumbay was inducted as the new PAWD Governor for Region X. Dir. Lagumbay will represent the local water districts of Region X consisting of the provinces of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City in every meeting, activities and programs organized by the PAWD.
During the culminating activity, Director Lagumbay representing the Professional Sector was awarded with Service Award for his dedicated and exemplary service to the Malaybalay City Water District for 20 years. Director Lagumbay has been a member of the MCWD Board of Directors since September,1997 and presently the Board Chairman of MCWD Board of Directors.
The 39th PAWD national convention was indeed a successful event inspired by the continued commitment of all local water districts in the country in serving and providing the customers with safe, sufficient and potable water.
