Malaybalay City – The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on August 9, 2019, has issued Final Advisory No. 7 declaring the end of the weak El Niño. Also, according to its issued Drought/Dry Spell Assessment Map, by the end of August 2019, the record shows that there is now “zero” areas in the country that are experiencing dry condition or dry spell.
However, despite the declaration of the PAG-ASA, it has been observed that the City of Malaybalay is receiving less rainfall for the past weeks. With his continuing condition, the MCWD surface water sources have not yet fully recovered and a decline in its discharge capacity has been noted. Accordingly, there has been an increase in water demand from MCWD customers due to the warm weather.
For this reason, in order to distribute the limited water supply, the MCWD will implement the daily schedule of water interruption in the following service areas effective October 8, 2019:
Affected customers are advised to store water in clean water storage prior to the scheduled water interruption. Customers are likewise advised to immediately report leakages to MCWD Hotline No. 0977- 837- 4085 (Globe) or Landline Nos. 813 – 2552 / 813 - 5527 specifying the details and exact location of the leak. Your cooperation can help minimize waste and maximize water use for the benefit of everybody especially this present condition.
