Malaybalay City - The Malaybalay City Water District (MCWD) headed by GM Glenrose T. Ledesma together with LGU – Malaybalay City, LGU Manolo Fortich and Manolo Fortich Water District represented by Engr. Elpidio Sumanduran Jr., Vice Mayor Miguel De Mata and GM Rogelio Pangan, respectively, signed the covenant of support and commitment for the construction of Septage Treatment Facilities for Malaybalay City and Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon on July 30, 2018 at Philtown Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.
The LGU – Malaybalay City and LGU – Manolo Fortich with the assistance of DENR – EMB Region X headed by Director Sabdullah Abubacar, CESO IV were awarded with grant for the conduct of the Feasibility Studies for their respective municipality/city. Also, through the effort and initiative of DENR – EMB X spearheaded by Engr. Florencio E. Dominguez Jr., EMED Division Chief and Engr. Alex Tacbobo, Supervising EMS/WQMA Focal Person, LGU – Malaybalay was included in the availment of grant for the conduct of the Feasibility Study being one of the members of the Tagoloan River Basin – Water Quality Management Area (TRB-WQMA).
During the said activity, Atty. Abas Lao – OIC – Regional Director of DENR –EMB X welcomed and congratulated the LGU beneficiaries for receiving the grant and at the same time, encouraged the LGUs and concerned agencies to continue the advocacy on the sanitation, contamination, pollution and solid waste problems in their respective jurisdiction. Likewise, the CEST, Inc. which is the winning bidder for the Consultancy Service for the preparation of the feasibility study for the construction of the septage treatment facility headed by project manager Engr. Benedict R. Evangelista presented the schedule and relevant activities to be undertaken with the LGUs and water districts. CEST Inc. will start to visit LGU Malaybalay City and Manolo Fortich as well as the water districts on the 1st week of August, 2018 to commence data gathering and on-site assessment.
As partners for the implementation and operation of the septage facility, both respective LGUs and water districts of Malaybalay City and Manolo Fortich expressed their commitment to address major concerns on sanitation, contamination, pollution and solid waste problems and in compliance to RA 9275 or Clean Water Act of 2004.
The said activity was also participated by the different national and local agencies, stakeholders and other concerned organizations such as DILG, DOH, NEDA, MENRO – Manolo, CENRO – Malaybalay City and Cagayan de Oro Water District.
